10 Tips For AdWords Beginners

All of this has been mentioned before here, but I couldn't find a beginners post like this so I thought I'd quickly put one together. I'm sure there's inaccuracies in here, so feel free to pull me up on them (because it will make it more useful for anybody just starting out with adwords and keep me from talking bull) and add your own beginners tips.

1.Don't use broad matching
At least not to start off with. What's broad matching? From the horse's mouth:

“If you include general keyword or keyword phrases-such as tennis shoes-in your keyword list, your ads will appear when users search for tennis and shoes, in any order, and possibly along with other terms.”

With expanded matching it becomes even harder to know when your keywords will show, because Google will pick them algorithmically.

Broad match is usually used by experienced advertisers looking to save time (usually with a long list of negative keywords) or by lazy advertisers, who may not have the time or the inclination to target their campaigns. Broad matching can also be the right way to go for parts of certain kinds of campaign, but wading straight into it can be dangerous.

2.Use dynamic titles
Dynamic titles are easy, they don't cost anything and they usually have a good effect on CTR and conversion rates. The phrase that the searcher uses in their search will come up as the the title of your AdWord. This saves you having to create an individual ad for each keyword and means that your ad will be more targeted. In the title field of your ad simply put {keyword:your backup title here}. The backup title is in case the search phrase is too long for the title field or if adwords can't display the search for some other reason.

3.Use global negatives
If you're selling something, you don't want people finding your ad if they're searching for free stuff. This sounds obvious, but do some searches and you'll see it happening. Use the word 'free' in your campaign global negatives. You can also use this for other words you don't want to turn up for. Using negative keywords is especially important if you're using broad matching.

4.Turn off content targeting and search network
Do you know where to look at these ads? No. Leave them alone until you feel confident that you know where they'll be showing and that you can make them work – get comfortable with Google first. Conversion rates and CTR's change dramatically for each search property, not to mention content targeted ads. Get acquainted with Google before you move on to the others.

5.Test different creatives and positions
How much of a difference will being in the first position, as opposed to the second, third or sixth position make, for your net profit? The answer is that it depends on your creative, industry and who else is bidding on your keywords. The bottom line is that you should know. Test your creative in each position and work out where it will be most effective, from an ROI point of view. Remember also that the adwords ranking algo works on a CPCxCTR basis (it's actually more complicated than that, but that gives an idea as to why out of two ads with similar CPC's, one will be higher because of a higher CTR)

You can also test your creatives. Write 5 or 6 different ads and set them to run evenly (Google will run the one which preforms best by default, but you can set them to run evenly in your campaign settings). The creative which gives you the highest ROI is the one you should go with. You should probably run this kind of test for more than just a day.

6.Optimise your landing page
The landing page is the page which the person who clicked on your ad will see when they come through to your site. Don't use your homepage as your landing page unless it deals only with selling the product you're advertising. For instance, if you're selling posters, have a landing page for 'flower' posters and a landing page for 'car'. You can even go one better and have a landing page for each poster – so you'll have a page for 'sunflower posters' and 'bmw 5 series posters'.

7. Optimise your creatives
Optimising creatives is another topic entirely – but there are some easy wins (depending on, again, the strategy being appropriate for your campaign): one, for example, is using a keyword specific url. If you're selling Nike AirWalk shoes you might want to set the URL on your creative to display as: www.example.com/nike/nike-airwalk. Keep in mind that this has no relation to the real click through URL – but it looks better than your domain name – and certainly better than a long line of numbers. Keep this relevant however, because otherwise you could cheese people off if they don't find what they're looking for.

Another easy win is to not include superlatives, like 'world's best' and 'most loved product' or ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Google will just disapprove them. If you do mention a price or something else (like: the UK's best selling mobile phone) then you must back that up on the landing page for the ad.

One of the most important things to remember that the ad copy is one of the most crucial things for making people click through. This sounds obvious, but there are a lot of very bad creatives out there.

8. Track conversion and ROI (Return On Investment)
Track everything. Google will track impressions, clicks and click through rate. Just because an ad has a high CTR doesn't mean that it is making you money! You can use Google's own conversion tracking codes, or you can use your own software. If you don't know how each keyword is preforming – then you won't be able to optimise your campaigns, by turning off the keywords that aren't working and investing more in the keywords which are.

9. Work out your CPA (Cost Per Acquisition)
How much is each sale costing you? Are your Google adwords listings preforming as well as your Overture listings? Your SiteMatch listings? Your offline marketing? You should know how much you're paying for each order/sale/download/enquiry/whatever on each channel – only then will you be able to set CPA targets to work towards and know which channel is best for you.

10. Don't enter into bidding wars
It is easy to get into bidding wars with your competitors. You want to be number one and so does your competitor. The best thing to do is to take a step back, ten deep breaths and consider how important it really is to be in the number one spot. If you can justify it, fine but otherwise: let your competitor be number one, slot into the number two slot and wait. If you have a better product, your clickthrough rate will get you to the top – and you'll still be paying the same as you were in the second position.

More and more people are using automated bidding software. This software will update at a set interval to keep the ad in the desired position. Doing battle with this kind of software is even more frustrating and less rewarding than trying to outbid a competitor.

10 Bad SEO Ideas

The world of Search Engine Optimization is complicated for many reasons. For example, it is well known that the Google algorithm takes into account more than 100 factors in ranking a web page. In addition, search engines treat their algorithms as highly proprietary for two main reasons: (1) they don't want their competition to know what they are doing, and: (2) they don't want web spammers to design sites to get rankings that they don't deserve.

Another reason the SEO world is so complicated is that it has changed dramatically over the past few years. What worked in 2003 stopped working in 2004. What worked in 2004 stopped working in 2005. The complexity of this environment, and the rapid changes, have led to many SEO myths. This article identifies the top 10 worst SEO ideas, and provides an explanation as to why they don't work. Here is our top 10 list:

  1. Relying on keyword metatags: Deserves the number 1 spot, simply because this stopped working 3 years ago. Search engines rely almost solely on user visible text on your site in order to determine its ranking. Text that is not user visible, such as the keyword metatags, stopped being significant years ago, because the Spammers made them abused them so badly. So take the top few keywords that your page is focused on, plug them in here, and then forget about it.

Do implement a title metatag though, because it is user visible, and one of the most important things you can do on your page to improve its ranking. Do implement a description metatag, not because it will influence rankings (because it doesn't), but because some search engines (such as Yahoo) may use it as the description it shows in your search results under some circumstances.

  2. Stuff keywords in invisible text: Definitely deserves the number 2 spot, because it can and will get your site banned. This includes text written in the same color as the background, or that is drawn way off the user visible page. These schemes are trivially recognized by search engines, and are treated as the act of a blatant Spammer. Don't do it. Ever. Learn The Art of Keyword Selection.

  3. Purchase Links: This practice is still incredibly popular, largely because there are many people who get away with doing it, and it helps them with their rankings. The problem is that the it is in the strategic interest of the search engines to defeat this practice, and they are working hard to do so. Google uses three techniques to detect purchased links:

    • Algorithms look for obvious patterns, such as the presence of words such as "Advertisers" or "Sponsors" near the link. Another thing they can look for is a grouping of unrelated links that don't fit the topic matter of the page where the links are found.
    • Google has thousands of editors in Asia whose sole purpose is to review search results for quality purposes. Part of what they are trained to do is detect purchased links and flag them.
    • Google also accepts reports of purchased links and will send these for review by their team in Asia.

So what does Google do when a purchased link is detected? They flag it and make it useless from a site ranking perspective. In addition, if they detect flagrant link buying for ranking practicespurposes, they can, and do, ban sites. Use the time more wisely. Take the same time you might have invested in finding links to buy, and find a link you deserve instead. It's much safer, and it will build your business for the long term.

  4. Horde Page Rank: This is one of my favorites, because it's one that most webmasters don't understand yet. This is because it changed over the past year or two. The concept people have in their mind is that page rank is a key part of site rankings and linking to other sites "leaks page rank" from your site. However, the world has changed. Page rank is a minute factor in ranking these days. Establishing, and reinforcing, site relevance is a huge factor in your rankings. You can do this by linking to pages and sites that are relevant to yours. Do link to relevant content.

  5. Swap Links: Another oldie, but not goodie. Search engines want links to represent endorsements. Swapped links represent barter, and they are trivial to detect. Don't swap links for the purpose of building page rank. It's a waste of your time. However, do swap links with sites that are highly relevant to your business, if these sites would be valuable to your users. Building your relevance in ways that are good for visitors to your site is always good. Of course, if you can get these relevant sites to link to you without linking back, this is better still.

Read these articles for a Linking Overview and for Link Building Strategies.

  6. Implement duplicate content: I have seen this done in two different ways:

    • Many businesses operate many 2 or more sites that contain similar, or even identical content. These different doorways may have been implemented as different business fronts to enable the business to pursue different methods for marketing their products or services.
    • Many sites have multiple ways of navigating to the same content, yet the content is delivered on a different URL in each case. Usually the URL is a simple manifestation of the path the user used to get there. The site owner has no bad intent and views each URL as being the "same page".

The trouble with duplicate content is that search engines want to rank the same content only once. So if you have multiple URLs on one site with the same content, one of these is just a waste of the search engine's time. Here is a real case where you are "leaking page rank" - you are sending your own precious page rank to pages that will never rank.

You also need to think about your crawl budget. If the search engine comes to your site and is going to crawl 1000 pages today, and 400 of these are duplicate pages that will never rank, you wasted a significant percentage of your opportunity for the search engine to find good unique content and rank it.

And if you have implemented "doorway sites" you could be in bigger trouble. Search engines see this as Spamming, and you could get banned.

  7. Use Session IDs on your URLs: Search engines makeing indexing decisions over a time period of many months. Getting a new site to rank is a year long process. Because of this, search engines look for static pages. When they see parameters at the end of a URL, the search engine treats them as part of the URL.

If a search engine sees one Session ID when it crawls a page on your site today, and a different one when it crawls the same page next week, it thinks it has found two different pages. Neither version of the page will get ranked, and the search engine will view your site as unstable. Session IDs will kill your rankings. Put your parameters in a cookie. Live with the fact that 2% of the surfing public disables cookies.

  8. Implement your site in Flash: Probably very pretty. But probably very useless from a search engine ranking perspective. Search engines can read and index Flash (try the following search: "cooking schools filetype:swf"), but you will not find any sites that rank high on competitive terms implemented in Flash. One basic reason for this is that search engines love text, and if you plan to implement a site with lots of text, Flash just does not make sense as the medium to use (movies are visual experiences, not reading experiences). You can read more about search engines and Flash here

  9. Use lots of Javascript: Javascript can be used effectively in many ways in web site design. The trouble is that search engines don't know how to read it. This will likely change at some time in the future. But even when it does, it will still be an inefficient means for communicating to a search engine what your site is about.

The best thing to do is to use it sparingly, and when you do use Javascript, use include files and/or CSS to move it out of the way of the headers and text on your web pages. Let the search engine find the unique content on each page first, and everyone will be happier.

  10. Cloaking: This is the practice of showing different content to the crawlers thaen you show to the user. It's really easy to come up with legitimate ideas as to why you might want to do this. But it does not matter. It's an emotional issue with the search engines, and they do not accept responsibility for determining your intent. It's emotional because it was a very popular technique with the Spammers in years gone by.

Search engines periodically implement new bots that they send out for the explicit purpose of detecting cloaking. There is no known technique for cloaking a bot whose name you do not yet know, coming from an IP address you currently don't know. These new bots easily detect a cloaking implementation.

When a search engine detects a site that is cloaking, there is an excellent chance that it will lead to the site being banned. Your intent in implementing cloaking does not matter. So don't do it. Solve your problem by another means.

So what's the bottom line? There are really two major things you need to do:

  • Learn how to communicate to the search engine what your site is about. Many of the problems listed above relate to common practices that make the search engine's job harder, or even impossible. Learning how to build your site so that the search engine can easily determine the unique value of your site is an outstanding idea.
  • Don't spend your time figuring out how to beat the search engine. It's just not a good place to be. You may even succeed in the short term. But if you do succeed in tricking them in the short term, the day will come when you wake up in the morning and a significant piece of your business has disappeared overnight. Not a good feeling at all.

Earn Cash With Adsense and Articles

The question regarding making cash using articles and Adsense has been asked numberous times. The unbelievers will tell you that it’s not possible. If that were true, there would not be so many people earning a living writing articles for their Adsense sites.

The question regarding making cash using articles and Adsense has been asked numberous times. The unbelievers will tell you that it’s not possible. If that were true, there would not be so many people earning a living writing articles for their Adsense sites.

In order to earn money with Adsense, you need to search for a profitable niche. When you are just beginning, you should pick a niche that you have some interest in. By doing this you will be more interested and it will not be quite as difficult for you to write your articles.

If you are interested in fishing, you could write articles about different kinds of fish, types of bait, type of lures, rods, reels, and the best locations for certain species.

When you become more comfortable writing articles you might then try a niche that is new to you. Use the search engines and do a search for whatever niche you want to try and research that topic. You might find that you have more of an interest in that topic than you thought.

When writing your articles, be precise, be informative, and by all means, don’t tell people the same thing that everyone else is telling them. Make your articles new and captivating. Give people unique content. Don’t write several articles and think that will be enough. You need to keep writing articles. You must keep your site full of fresh content. Don’t forget to put your name and website address at the end of your article in the resource box. As you write informative articles, other websites may grab your article and publish it on their site or in their newsletter, thereby driving additional traffic to your site.

By keeping your content fresh and informative, the search engines will spider your site more often. Search engines look for new and unique content and will make numerous trips to your site if you keep adding new articles to it. The more often they visit, the higher in the ratings your website will go.

You also need to submit your articles to online article directories. Each directory has its own submission guidelines so be sure to check them out first. Make sure your resource box is included with the article when you submit it. Without this resource box, readers will not know who wrote the article or how to get more information from your website. More visitors will also help increase your search engine ratings.

When you join Google’s Adsense program, Google will place Adsense ads on your site that are directly related to the topic that you are writing about. When a visitor clicks on one of the ads, you are paid for that click. The amount you are paid will depend on what the advertiser is paying for that ad and only Google knows that. The more traffic you get to your site, and the higher your click through rate (CTR), the more money you can earn.

It’s not as hard as it may appear. The most difficult part is getting started and keeping the momentum going. It may take awhile for your site to get traffic. The most important thing is to keep submitted articles to your website.

If you wish, you can also post articles written by others as long as you include their resource box. Doing so can cause some visitors to transfer away from your site by clicking on the link in the authors resource box. But the good part of this practice is that the article still adds fresh content to your website which is always a good thing for your search rankings.

Which AdSense Rectangle Ad Performs Best?

Here’s a quick AdSense tip that could make you some good money.

AdSense offers two rectangle ad unit sizes - 300×250 pixels and 336×280 pixels.

These are both great ad units to use on your blog because they are not only available as text based ads but also image and video ones. Setting your ad units to show all formats of ads increases the potential number of advertisers that will ‘bid’ for your ad unit which drives up the potential CPM of the unit.

So which is best - 300×250 or 336×280?

One might think that the larger the ad the better it’s earnings will be - I mean having more of your screen real-estate dedicated to an ad increases the chances of it being clicked doesn’t it?As a result many bloggers go for the 336×280 ad.

However it can be well worth your while to test both ad unit sizes because there’s a good reason why the smaller ad unit can perform better for you - it’s more popular with advertisers.

336×280 might be bigger and increase the chances of being noticed - but 300×250 pixel ad units are more popular with advertisers wanting to run image/banner ads. It’s a standard size that many of them (particularly larger advertisers) produce (along with 728×90 sized ads) for online advertising. I spoke to one advertising agency representative recently who says that they’ve never made a 336×280 ad for any of their mainstream advertisers.

    Split Test Your Ad Units

Of course it’s worth keeping in mind my regular advice of ‘ever blog is different’. I do have one blog where the larger rectangle ad unit out performs the smaller one. This blog doesn’t attract many image ads for some reason (I think it’s because it has a more local market with less advertisers) and the larger format works better for it with text ads. The moral to the story is to test both ad units and go with the best performing one.

    Drupal Add-ons for SEO

    • Block Cache creates cached versions of each block displayed on your website. For each cached block only one SQL query is executed thus reducing server load resulting in better performance and faster delivery of content.
    • Find URL Alias is a utility module that lets you search for particular URL aliases. This module requires the core path module which enables search engine friendly URLs for your site. Find URL Alias is especially useful when there are many aliases stored in your database. But keep in mind that changing URLs is something you should avoid.
    • Google Analytics integrates Google’s powerful web statistics tracking system with your website. The module enables you to selectively track users by role.
    • Meta tags allows you to define site wide meta tags and specific tags for each piece of content (node). If you use the core taxonomy module (you really should do) meta tags can be assigned automatically by using the terms (tags) you use to categorize your content.
    • Pathauto automatically generates path aliases based on the modules settings. A very powerful module that lets you define different URL patterns based on content types. In the latest version also allows to filter common words. Requires the core path module.
    • RobotsTxt is useful if you run multiple Drupal sites from a single code base and want to have different robots.txt files for each of them.
    • Service links automatically adds links to social bookmarking and blog search services to your content. You can select which services you want to link to, restrict the display based on content (node) types and whether to display links in teaser and/or full page view.
    • URLify automatically generates the path alias for a piece of content based on its title using JavaScript. Requires the core path module. I lightweight alternative to pathauto.
    • XML Sitemap generates an XML sitemap which complies with the sitemaps.org specification. The relative priority of each piece of content is calculated based on content type, number of comments, and promotion to front page. The values of each of these factors can be set in the admin section of the module.

    Simple trick to increase CTR

Making money with Adsense is based on how many clicks you get on the ads. Also it’s important on what market is your website and how much are paying the advertisers for the ads.

From my experience i know that websites who server communities or have a lot of returning users tend to receive a lower CTR than websites that receive a large number of new visitors. This is happening because the returning users might go familiar with the ads on your website and will search only for the info they need, avoiding clicking on ads.

What i suggest is to promote your websites more on Yahoo and MSN. Visitors coming from these SE’s are not so familiar with Google Ads, so they are more predicted to click on the ads.

What i noticed is that, if your ads are placed good and you are receiving a large number of visitors from these SE’s, 40-50% of them will click on the ads.

    Bagaimana cara mengatasi Google Sandbox?

Landing page load time will soon be incorporated into Quality Score

As part of our continuing efforts to improve the user experience, we will soon incorporate an additional factor into Quality Score: landing page load time. Load time is the amount of time it takes for a user to see the landing page after clicking an ad.

    Why are we doing this?
Two reasons: first, users have the best experience when they don't have to wait a long time for landing pages to load. Interstitial pages, multiple redirects, excessively slow servers, and other things that can increase load times only keep users from getting what they want: information about your business. Second, users are more likely to abandon landing pages that load slowly, which can hurt your conversion rate.

When are we making this change?
In the next few weeks, we will add load time evaluations to the Keyword Analysis page (we'll notify you when they are available). You will then have one month to review your site and make necessary adjustments.

After the one month review period, this load time factor will be incorporated into your keywords' Quality Scores. Keywords with landing pages that load very slowly may get lower Quality Scores (and thus higher minimum bids). Conversely, keywords with landing pages that load very quickly may get higher Quality Scores and lower minimum bids.

To learn more about the upcoming change, please see this article in the AdWords Help Center.

    Building With AdSense

When Les Kenny and his family launched their do-it-yourself (D.I.Y.) website www.buildeazy.com in 2001 solely as a hobby site, they had no idea of the impact Google AdSense would have on their lives.

Les had spent most of his life building in both Sydney and Auckland, but his hobby was designing projects and writing about them. This inevitably led to the Buildeazy website, where he posts D.I.Y. woodworking and building projects. He caters to a universal audience by using general terminology and incorporating both metric (mm) and imperial (ft and inch) measurements into all his projects. Les and daughter Roseanne also wrote two successful kids D.I.Y. books published in Australasia. They had intended to write more books, but AdSense proved to be more lucrative.

In early 2004, Les incorporated AdSense into his website. Around March 2005, to his amazement, optimisation of the AdSense ad units throughout the site doubled the earnings overnight. The income from AdSense allowed both Les and his wife Jenny to give up their day jobs and work solely on their passions and hobbies. It has also allowed all of the family to get involved.

Les has spent a lot of time experimenting with his ad layout and colour, making use of the Manage Ads feature and custom channels. He found that the 300x250 medium rectangle was overwhelmingly the best performing. Using custom channels, he was also able to remove some units which weren't performing as strongly to reduce clutter on his site.

"Most of my pages now consist of only two ad units -a 300x250 medium rectangle at the top of the page and a 336x280 large rectangle at the bottom of the page. I have found that a couple of well placed ads on a page do better than a cluster of ads all over the page - and I guess it is also more pleasing for the visitors."

Once the AdSense units are placed and optimised, everything takes care of itself -- leaving Les and family to get on with what they enjoy most.

    Change Ads Without Replacing Code?

After releasing their latest feature about Allowed Sites, Google AdSense introduce their upcoming feature again. This new upcoming feature will let publishers easily manage the AdSense ad units from within their AdSense account. That means, publishers can make ad changes without replacing code inside their pages. Though this feature isn’t live yet, but Google provide a sneak peek for publishers so publisher will know what to expect in the coming weeks from AdSense.

This new ad management feature from Google AdSense means that the ad unit settings (such as colors and channels) for new AdSense for content ad units will be stored inside AdSense account every time publishers generate AdSense ad code. Then, if publisher would like to change any of these ad settings in the future, publisher will no longer need to manually replace the AdSense ad code on all of the web pages. Publishers can manage the ads and make the update within their AdSense account. For instance, with just a few mouse clicks, publisher can quickly change the borders of all 336×280 large rectangles ad from black to green. Fantastic! This new feature will help publishers save time and will simplify the process of optimizing AdSense ad units.

Unfortunately, the ad management feature isn’t yet available in any publisher accounts. Google AdSense will be rolling it out in phases in the next few weeks, and they’ll follow up with another post at that time to help publishers more understand about how to use the new feature. The feature is available to use when publishers see the “Manage Ads” page appear under their AdSense Setup tab. Here are the screenshots for the new AdSense feature:

    1000 Cara Meningkatkan Ranking Alexa

Hari ini, tepat sebulan sejak aku mencari info tentang cara menaikkan ranking Alexa lalu mencoba menyimpulkannya menjadi “5 Tips Untuk Meningkatkan Ranking Alexa“:

    1. Alexa Traffic
    2. Alexa Toolbar
    3. Alexa Widget
    4. Alexa Redirection
    5. Alexa Blog/Content

Coba kita lihat dari yang paling populer, “20 Quick Ways to Increase Your Alexa Rank“. Kenyataannya, banyak tips-tips yang sudah tercakup dalam 5 Langkah tadi. Mari kita ambil contoh :

    • Flaunt your URL in webmaster forums. Webmasters usually have the toolbar installed. You’ll get webmasters to visit your website and offer useful feedback. It’s also a good way to give back to the community if you have useful articles to share with others.
    • Post in Asian social networking websites or forums. Some webmasters have suggested that East Asian web users are big Alexa toolbar fans, judging by the presence of several Asia-based websites in the Alexa Top 500. I suggest trying this only if you have the time or capacity to do so.
    • Get Dugg or Stumbled. This usually brings massive numbers of visitors to your website and the sheer amount will have a positive impact on your Alexa Rank. Naturally, you’ll need to develop link worthy material.
    • Use PayperClick Campaigns. Buying advertisements on search engines such as Google or Exact Seek will help bring in Traffic. Doubly useful when your ad is highly relevant to webmasters.
    • Buy banners and links for traffic from webmaster forums and websites. A prominent and well displayed ad will drive lots of webmaster traffic to your website, which can significantly boost your rank.
    • Optimize your popular posts. Got a popular post that consistently receives traffic from the search engines? Include a widget/graph at the bottom of the post, link to your Alexa post or use Alexa redirection on your internal URLs.
    • Hire forum posters to pimp your website. Either buy signatures in webmaster forums or promote specific articles or material in your website on a regular basis. You can easily find posters for hire in Digital Point and other webmaster forums.
    • Use MySpace . This is a little shady so I don’t recommended it unless you’re really interested in artificially inflating your Alexa Rank. Use visually attractive pictures or banners and link them to your redirected Alexa URL. This will be most effective if your website has content that is actually relevant to the MySpace Crowd.

    • Get friends to review and rate your Alexa website profile. Not entirely sure of its impact on rankings but it might help in some way.
    • Create a webmaster tools section on your website. This is a magnet for webmasters who will often revisit your website to gain access to the tools. Aaron Wall’s webpage on SEO Tools is a very good example.
    • Try Alexa auto-surfs. Do they work? Maybe for brand new sites. I think they are mostly suitable for new websites with a very poor Alexa rank. Note that there be problems when you try to use auto surfs alongside contextual ads like Adsense. They aren’t also long term solutions to improving your Alexa Rank so I suggest using with caution.

Update TOS Google AdSense 25/02/08: Lebih Ringan, Lebih Menjanjikan?

So, apa sajakah perubahan-perubahan tersebut?

    1. AdSense for Search sekarang boleh dipasang di halaman apa pun, termasuk halaman yang TIDAK ADA content-nya sama sekali alias halaman kosong.
    2. AdSense for Referrals sekarang boleh dipasang di halaman apa pun, termasuk halaman yang TIDAK ADA content-nya sama sekali alias halaman kosong.

How Do You Withdraw Your AdSense Earnings

For non-us residents, you can choose to have your Google AdSense payments mailed to you via check in your local currency. Google AdSense offers this option in 42 countries. You can check with Google AdSense support center to see if your country is included in this list.

To withdraw your Google AdSense earnings via check, you need to set the payment details in your Google AdSense account. This is how you should do it:

    1. Log in to your AdSense account and click the edit link near Payment Details.
    2. Select Check – Standard Delivery radio button
    3. Click continue
    4. Select your local currency if it is available or you can select US dollars.
    5. Click save settings.

After you’ve done all these steps, you are all set and you can withdraw your AdSense earnings via check and start receiving your Google AdSense payment by postal mail. You may also choose to receive your Google AdSense payment through Secured Express Delivery. Using a Secured Express Delivery incurs a fee. However you can receive your check faster than Standard Delivery. A Secured Express Delivery normally takes about 5-10 business days to be delivered to you. If you choose this option, you will need to contact DHL (the courier service) to make sure they offer service to your area and that your address is in the proper format.

When Can You Withdraw Your AdSense Earnings?

Google AdSense pays you approximately 30 days after the end of the month in which you become eligible to receive Google AdSense payment. You become eligible for Google AdSense payment only when your AdSense earnings reach at least $100.00. For example, you started AdSense in January and at the end of the month you had not yet accumulated $100.00 in your Google AdSense account. You would then need to wait for the next Google AdSense payment date. If your January and February AdSense earnings combined is more than $100.00, you would be able to withdraw your Google AdSense earnings for February. You would be paid approximately 30 days after the end of the month of February. You could expect your Google AdSense check near the end of March.

Another good reason to use AdSense for Search is that you get to combine the AdSense for Search earnings with AdSense for Content earnings. If your combined AdSense earnings is more than $100.00 and even though your AdSense for Content earnings do not reach $100.00, you meet the payout minimum and you are eligible for payment.

What Is An Invalid Click and How Will It Affect You?

More than anything, an invalid click is a big no-no and it will get your account terminated faster than anything else. Having said that, what are invalid clicks? The following scenarios generate invalid clicks.

    • When publisher clicks on their own ads for any purposes, an invalid click is recorded.
    • When publisher asks others to click on their ads for any purposes, an invalid click is recorded.
    • When someone uses robots or automated software to generate click, an invalid clicks is recorded.
    • When any deceptive practice is used to generate clicks, those generated clicks are invalid clicks.

Google AdSense has state of the art technology to monitor its AdSense program. They know whether or not a particular AdSense site is generating invalid clicks. Invalid clicks raise the advertiser’s costs and hence Google won’t tolerate this. Invalid clicks are unnecessary as there are plenty of money-making opportunities with valid clicks. With an optimized website, useful content, and attractive ads, there’s no reason for anybody to even entertain the idea of using invalid clicks.

    Protect Yourself From Invalid Clicks

You are aware that clicking on your own AdSense ads will lead to the termination of your Google AdSense account. However, because you are constantly working on your AdSense web site, you fear that someday you may click on the AdSense ads accidentally. There are two simple ways that can protect you from clicking on your AdSense Ads accidentally. Please read How To Protect Yourself From Clicking Your Ads Accidentally.

You can also find a list of Don’ts for Using the Google AdSense Program that may give you some ideas on how you can protect yourself from invalid clicks.

Google AdSense Account Terminated For Invalid Clicks

There are few honest Google AdSense website owners have their AdSense accounts terminated for Invalid clicks. These honest webmasters certainly did not click on the AdSense ads themselves and they certainly did not violate any Google AdSense terms and conditions. Their accounts were terminated unfairly. They managed to get their account reinstated. If your account is terminated unfairly, you can follow this detail guideline on how to get your Google AdSense account reinstated.

Submit Website Anda Ke Search Engine Dalam Waktu 1-2 Minggu

4 Tips to Improve your AdSense revenue

How many times have you seen an ad campaign running for “Google Adsense” that makes it sound so easy to make revenue by just copying and pasting their code onto your website? After all the research I have done on Google Adsense, I finally realized how it is not that easy just to copy and paste. There is much more beyond this that must be done in order to make Google Adsense revenue.

The following are techniques that must be implemented in order to really make money with Google Adsense:

    1. Design a website that is Google Adsense friendly. In other words, make sure that your website has much content that is keyword rich and make sure your keyword density is decent. Make sure that you are using the most beneficial keywords for your niche. Try to choose keywords that cost more for pay per click. For example, if a keyword such as “dog training” cost $2.00 per click to run an ad campaign, you can be well assured that you will make around half of that per click. By choosing the top competitive keywords, you will increase your Adsense revenue considerably. Once indexed, Google will then be able to known what correct ads to place on your website.
    2. Generate traffic to your website using a number of different techniques.
      • Writing articles
By writing articles at least once a week and submitting them to article directories such as Ezine. The more article directories that you submit to, the more back links you are creating for your website. You can pay for article directory submission, which can cost as little as $80 every quarter.
      • Search Engine Directory Submissions
By submitting your website URL to search engine friendly directories, you are creating back links back to your website. Make sure that you only submit to search engine directories with a Google page rank of four or higher. You can pay around $11.00 per website to submit to 100 directories with a page rank of four or higher. Create ads: By publishing classified ads, you are advertising your website and creating back links back to your website. US Free Ads and Domestic Sale are two places that you can submit your ad to for free.
Just remember back links, back links, back links!
    3. Google Adsense ads can be published and designed in a wide variety of formats. When displaying your ads, decide upon a size that would be best suitable for your website. There are different sizes to choose from. There are also different fonts and colors you can use to create your ads. Try to use a color that blends in well with your website. Also, although borders can be used, many web publisher's state on forums and blogs, that once they removed their borders, they had more clicks on their ads.
    4. When displaying ads on your website, it is best to place them in a place where visitors can review them. One good place to display your ads is somewhere at the top of your website. A lot of web publishers use the top left corner for displaying Google Adsense. However, when you go to a website, what is one of the first things you look at? Could it be how the website is navigated by its menu? That is why another great place to display your ads could be near the navigation menu.

Earning revenue with Google Adsense takes time, patience, and trial and error. The more you read about how Adsense works for others, the more you will understand how it will work for you.

How to Not Get Banned for Adsense Arbitrage

Would you believe a rumour that tells you that Google is going to ban the publishers that practice Adsense Arbitrage? Well, then I suppose you don't agree with me that Google would commit suicide. After all, the Adword/Adsense system that Google uses is arbitrage.

What Google wants to get rid of are the sites that convert poor for the advertisers. Imagen yourself paying dollars per click to get visitors to your site and you see your ad on one of those crappy "Made For Adsense" websites. Chances are that you want to take your ads of those sites right away. There's no quality content on those sites that gives the searcher the information he or she is looking for.

Google is going after publishers that return bad ROI for the advertiser. Google has never said that they are going after Adsense Arbitrage publishers.

Suppose you use an Adwords campaign to send traffic to your website With Adsense ads. If that website has quality content on it and is relevant to what the searcher has typed in the search bar, then you are doing exactly what Google wants you to do. Give relevant quality information to the searcher. You are NOT violating Google's TOS.

The Quality Score of your Adwords campaign will improve and as a result you will pay less CPC (Cost per Click) and your ad will be displayed higher in the Sponsored Links.

What would be the result if you optimize your website to a quality website? Besides the traffic you get from your advertising campaign, Google will love to index a website like that. They need quality information for the searchers.

Affiliate marketers using PPC advertising are practicing arbitrage, because they often invest few cents to earn dollar commissions. Of course, in this case the amount of CPC that they pay depends on what niche they advertise in. And very often the searcher ends up on a landing page with a product review. If that review is relevant to what the searcher searches for, the advertiser and affiliate is doing exactly what Google wants. Again, this will increase the quality score of the Adwords campaign.

    Conclusion

Adsense Arbitrage is not a "bad" thing that will get you banned from Google Adsense. On the other hand, building crappy websites, such as the MFA (Made For Adsense sites), and sending traffic from a Google Adwords account to those sites is not recommended anymore. A logical thought is that Google will never index those sites and will let the advertiser pay high CPC in case of arbitrage. Will this cost you your Adsense account? That's up to Google to decide....

    Manage AdSense account

My series of AdSense tips (the inspiration for my AdSense book Make Easy Money with Google) continues with a tip about who should control an AdSense account. This tip comes directly from a conversation I had with someone who had been ripped off. Why were they ripped off? Because they weren't in control of their AdSense account.

For some sites, an AdSense account is like a license to print money. Now, most sites aren't making thousands of dollars a month from AdSense, but it's very feasible for niche sites to make a hundred or more dollars a month — see Rick's recent entry on Feedbuzzard, for example. Whether you're making a lot or not so much, it's still extra income that should be coming your way.

I say should because the reality is that many people outsource the management of their sites third parties. Not everyone has the time or the expertise to develop their own Web pages (though it's not that's difficult to learn the basics, as I show in Make Easy Money with Google), so outsourcing the development and maintenance of a site may make sense in many cases. But don't outsource the management of your AdSense account or, worse yet, let someone else use their own account to display ads on your site. The AdSense account should be registered in your name (or the name of your business), not in anyone else's name. The money should be sent to you directly, as should the tax information. If you want to give the guys maintaining your site a cut of the revenue, fine, but do it yourself from the money that Google sends you, don't have the money sent to Google.

For similar reasons, make sure that the ownership and control of your domain name rests with you and not a third party. Your domain name (or domain names, it's common to have more than one, even if they just point to the same site) is a valuable resource, it's part of your brand. Take the time to learn how to use a domain name registrar (it's easy) and manage the names yourself. If you ever have problems with your hosting service, for example, you won't be held hostage by them (you do have local backup copies of your website, don't you?) if you control the domain name — there are plenty of web hosting companies out there eager for your business.
