SEO Tips: Add Site to Google Webmasters Tools

In Google Webmasters Tools, you can add up to 500 sites, including news sites and mobile sites, to your account. In addition, Google will ask to verify the site you gave. This is because Google needs to know that you are the site owner before Google shows you the specific information and allowing you use the tools provided by Google. Verification does not affect PageRank or affect your site performance in Google search results. (There are special instructions to add the blog from Blogger & sites created with Google Sites.)

If you are using a blog with Blogger, the blog is automatically added and verified by enabling Webmaster Tools directly from the Blogger dashboard.

To add and verify sites:

1. Log into Google Webmaster Tools with your Google / GMail you.

2. Click Add a site, and type the URL of the site you want to add. Be sure to type the complete URL, for example: http://www.example.com/

3. Click Continue. Site verification page opens.

4. (Optional) In the Name box, type the name of the site (for example, the blog I).

5. Choose how you want verification:

* Meta tags: Google will ask you to add meta tags with a unique value to your site homepage. This is the easiest way if to edit the homepage easier than uploading new files.
* HTML file: Google will ask you to create a file with specific name and upload to a specific folder to your site server (the address and name of the file is determined by Google). The file is empty file can Google just consider the location file location, not its contents.

Here are the types of URLs you can add a site:

* Example.com * Www.example.com * Bar.example.com * Foo.bar.example.com * Www.example.com / foo * Www.example.com / foo / bar * Foo.bar.example.com / catalog / dresses

Data and Reports Webmaster Tools work better at the site level. For example, if your site www.example.com has separate sections for some countries, Google suggested to add each site to the sub-site or sub-folders as a different site. For example, if you have a travel site with specific subfolders covering Ireland, France, and Spain, you can add it to your Webmaster Tools account:

* Http://www.example.com * Http://www.example.com/france * Http://www.example.com/ireland * Http://www.example.com/spain
